Bentoteca is a relaxed Japanese bistro in Milan led by chef Yoji Tokuyoshi, who once worked at Osteria Francescana. Modern and contemporary Japanese–Italian food. An exciting place. Bentoteca is an exciting place run by chef Yoji Tokuyoshi, previous chef at Massimo Bottura's Osteria Francescana. It’s a sort of an unusual concept of Japanese–Italian food, it's very modern and contemporary. And it's a nice addition to the Milan restaurant scene which I think is quite high-end, old school and traditional. They had this beautiful and delicious miso-glazed pigeon dish, that was spatchcocked and grilled flat. It's wonderful to see that cities like Milan gain new additions – people are thinking and developing their own concepts from the old school and young chefs are exploring the market and finding new spots to open their own restaurants.
Trattoria Trippa in Milan is a modern trattoria by chef Diego Rossi, focusing on meat-based Italian recipes with a personal twist. Its warm, old-style feel and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere. The menu changes with the seasons, and the selection of natural wines often pairs well with the food.

28 Posti is a welcoming spot in Milan that puts a fresh spin on cooking while staying true to local, seasonal products. They also cater to vegan preferences and pay close attention to sustainability. The cozy setting adds to the relaxed experience, allowing guests to savor inventive flavors without any fuss.

One of the smallest but truly bright gems in the gastronomical scene of Milan. 28 Posti is casual in its ambiance but absolutely not a regular place for eating. Chef Marco Ambrosino offers a creative cuisine of the season and territory and perfectly “marries” it with fermentation. Modern and extremely innovative yet truly tastes well and stays comfy. Biological and natural wines make 80% of the wine list and the sommelier is very well-prepared. I’d suggest for a Sunday curious lunch with friends.

Da Martino is a small, family-run trattoria in Milan that’s been open since the 1950s, known for its simple, comforting meals. The cozy dining area and friendly hosts make you feel at home right away. Meals are made with fresh, slow-food ingredients, and because the space is limited, it’s a good idea to book in advance.

Family style, well made, simple but tasty comfort food. Grilled meats, pasta, pizza alta and cotoletta. This little, old place, opened in the 1950’s, is run by a family with the father and mother Luisa in the front. Diego, the son, is the chef. A family restaurant where you can eat well made, simple but tasty comfort food made of slow food produce. Not quite milanese but North Italian - on the menu they have various grilled meats, pasta, pizza alta and the famous thin cotoletta alla milanese. They also serve natural wines. The place is very small, so book in advance.
La Sala del Vino is a relaxed wine bar in Milan with a friendly atmosphere for exploring Italian and international labels at good value. Indoor seating and a courtyard make it a comfortable spot to enjoy a glass of wine and share some light bites with friends.

A wine bar (wines with excellent value for money, natural and not, Italian and foreign ones) with a kitchen serving cold cuts and cheeses, meat tartare and small plates to share; convivial environment and there are also some outdoor tables in the courtyard
Osteria Alla Concorrenza is a busy wine bar in Milan that offers a casual, welcoming atmosphere. They focus on homemade dishes to share and mostly natural wines, making it a lively spot for both aperitivo and a relaxed meal. Old style italian Osteria with homemade dishes to share and natural wines in Milan.A ‘Osteria’ like those of the past, Osteria alla Concorrenza in Milano, where you can drink (natural) wines happily with friends and taste various dishes to share in a nice, informal and welcoming atmosphere. The plates to order on the blackboard are united by the mouth watering just reading them, such as the platter of cold cuts, Recco focaccia with mortadella, pickled vegetables (good!) radicchio and Morbier, bean soup and hen in saor. For wine, it is better to ask for advice to the host who will surely find the bottle that best meets the tastes of the diners: in my case an interesting Nebbiolo that cleaned up the palate between one bite and another.Beautiful floor ‘old Milan style’ and the pictures on the walls, I would have taken a thousand other photos.
Cantine Isola dal 1896 is a longtime wine bar in Milan’s Chinatown, known for its large selection of both traditional and natural wines. It has a laid-back atmosphere and friendly service that make it easy to explore a wide range of bottles. Founded in 1896, it still feels like a welcoming neighborhood spot for anyone who enjoys good wine.

The essence of an Italian wine bar.Located a few kilometers from the city center, in the middle of Chinatown, Cantina Isola is a true gem. Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Isola it boasts a massive selection of interesting wines – both expensive & cheap, Italian & French, traditional and natural. Great vibe, friendly service - even mixing poems with wines on Tuesday evenings. Must be one of my favourite wine bars in the whole of Italy. Great Chinese street food places next door as a bonus.
Vinoir sits on a peaceful stretch of Milan’s Navigli, where you can enjoy real, home-style cooking paired with a careful selection of natural wines. It has a laid-back vibe, and if you time your visit right, you might spot rowers gliding by on the canal. Everything here feels genuine, making it a comfortable place to relax and savor good food and wine.

Natural wines and interesting dishes on a quiet stretch of the NavigliGianluca Ladu was among the first to work with natural wine in Milan: he started out with a first, smaller version of Vinoir, on a quiet stretch of the Navigli, and over the years he expanded; he's changed a few chefs in the kitchen, but what hasn't changed is how well his very personal selection of wines pairs with the dishes. At Vinoir it's not about small plates of trite culinary cliches, it's real food, cooked well, closer to the offer you'd expect from a good bistro. They might not have the cool logo or the cool merch, but they know how to please customers with grown-up taste. If you sit outside at the right time of the day you may also catch the boats from the two rowing clubs of Milan as they zip by on the water. Now that's cool. (If you can't find a table at Vinoir and want to stay in the area, my next pick is Enoteca Naturale, which occupies a wing of Emergency's headquarters and part of its garden, in front of one of Milan's most beautiful churches, Sant'Eustorgio. Younger, hip vibe, if you like that kind of scene, with a knowledgeable staff that knows how to keep the party going).
