Guests staying in the Arlo Hotel, visiting our city in general or folks living in Miami can now experience the very talented cuisine of celebrated chef Brad Kilgore in this modern, sleekly designed space on the hotel’s ground floor in the continually gentrifying Wynwood neighborhood. The menu is described as ‘a Florida brasserie’ but is also ‘steak house’ in composition. Offerings we especially loved were his take on a Tuna Tartare done with Toasted Shallot Ponzu and Puffed Wild Rice. I’m guessing some element of fermentation in Fresno chilies adds what in Chinese cuisine is known as ‘málà’ notes which electrified what is often a predictable item. Not the case here. The beautifully textured Brioche with Honeycomb Butter is well worth the price tag. Perhaps the most memorable offering in my view is their “The Baked Florida” with a tableside fire show, passionfruit curd as well as a meringue that might be the best I’ve ever consumed.
