Harummanis Dubai: A Modern Take on Singaporean Malay Cuisine
I had the pleasure of dining at Harummanis Dubai, Chef Akmal Anuar’s latest venture, where he masterfully reinterprets traditional Singaporean Malay dishes with a modern, elevated twist. Inspired by his mother’s cherished recipes, the restaurant delivers a unique and deeply personal experience, showcasing the comforting flavors of Malay cuisine in a fresh, contemporary way.
On my visit, I tried the satay, eggplant and the beef rendang, and the three dishes were nothing short of spectacular. The satay, often a humble street food, was reimagined with a refined touch. Perfectly grilled and paired with a flavorful peanut sauce, it was a true testament to Akmal’s ability to elevate tradition without losing its soul.
The beef rendang, however, stole the show. The meat was tender and rich, coated in a deeply aromatic and perfectly spiced sauce. Every bite was packed with flavor, showcasing the meticulous care and balance that went into its preparation. It’s a dish I would gladly return for, time and time again.
Chef Akmal Anuar, known for his Michelin-starred 11 Woodfire, has once again proven why he’s one of the region’s most exciting chefs. With Harummanis, he delves into his roots, celebrating Singaporean Malay cuisine while adding his signature flair.
If you’re looking for authentic yet innovative dishes, Harummanis is an absolute must-visit. I’m already planning my next trip back to explore more of the menu, but the satay and rendang are enough reason alone to book a table.
