One of the top Indian restaurants in a town of millions of Indian restaurants. Ok this is Mayfair and so the level of innovation needs to be up a notch, so you need to go for the pepper and garlic soft shell crab and the stone bass tikka and the adraki lamb chops beyond your usual butter chicken and biryani.

Top class cooking Sister of Dastaan, this Indian restaurant in Sheen has a comfortable environment and genuinely superb cooking, up there with the very best in London. The tandoori prawns here are superb, as is the pork vindaloo and methi chicken, amongst other fine dishes. It is better than most of the Michelin starred Indian restaurants in London.

Intimate family-run restaurant and takeaway serving the best Indian and Nepalese food in South LondonSome may accuse me of bias as this is my local, but I genuinely don't think I've had better Indian food in London. Himalayan Kitchen is run by a lovely family, with dad in the kitchen and mum, son and daughter out front. The food is fresh and so full of flavour, with the chicken chettinad, saag aloo and paneer jalfrezi being the dishes I return to again and again, though had to crib pics from their social as I'm always too busy eating. My one line review now whenever I eat Indian food elsewhere is, 'It's not as good as Himalayan Kitchen'. It never is.
Kricket Soho is a small, modern Indian restaurant that started out as a food truck in Brixton. It offers fresh flavors and inventive ways of combining ingredients in an energetic setting, with most seats by the bar. Its relaxed atmosphere makes it a welcoming spot for anyone looking to try something a bit different.
