I went to the Union Square Cafe for the first time, which is a legendary restaurant, by the even more legendary restaurateur Danny Meyer, who I greatly admire. We went there for my son's birthday and It's an older restaurant from the 80s. This was first restaurant and Danny Meyer was the person that went on to found Shake Shack and countless other excellent restaurants. But it was nice to go to where it started and what was nice about it was was that Danny and his team had not lost the love for their restaurant. It was still a beautiful restaurant and little things that I noticed that might not matter to customers, but like how well the restaurants maintained. Is the paint scratched? You know, are they reinvesting in it? And so it's a really immaculate restaurant. It's kind of a little bit timeless. They have these great salads, they have really good cold seafood and I really enjoyed the pastas. I think it's something they're known for. The food was excellent, but the hospitality and that is the thing he's renowned for was just top notch, so welcoming. They're excited that with their customers, they want to make you feel like you're special, that you matter when you come to a restaurant. You know, certainly that's what we try to do in Attica. I felt very much taken care of and there was just really, really good, true professional service and hospitality there. And I think that's really admirable when the restaurant has been successful for 30 years and as in a city like New York, that they haven't lost sight of themselves. They know what's important. It's harder to do than it looks. And I love to go to some of these sort of historically important restaurants.
