The Connaught Bar

I think just for the way that they bring the hospitality to life in this space, The Connaught Bar is a very, very important place to visit. They do classical drinks, and they also do some very inventive drinks, but the atmosphere of being in this bar is second to none - it's a very special place. You feel distinctly like you're in London, but you're whisked away in this magical moment where regardless of who you are, you’re made to feel like you're a million bucks, and I think that's a lovely thing to be able to experience. The martini is very, very iconic here. And I think it is something that is an experience. It's very much an engagement. They talk you through it, you get to try different aspects of it. And the beautiful thing about a martini is it's endlessly customizable, and they do it with their own flair and they have their own little accents that allow you to personalise it. I think that's a lovely way of being able to share a moment with somebody. I always talk about the fact that sharing a martini with somebody ahead of dinner is one of life's perfect moments. It's just this moment of pause. The nice thing about going to somewhere like The Connaught for that, even though it's a slightly more grand affair, because it's drawn out, is that it's very theatrical. And it still feels like there's the bustle of the world going around you, but it's your little bubble for that period while they're making you the martini.
