When you think of Peruvian cuisine, the benchmark is invariably high. Yet, La Mar in Miami doesn't just reach that benchmark – thanks to Chef Diego Oka and his team, it soars above it. The man behind the magic, Diego is not only an outstanding chef but also a genuine, humble individual. His presence elevates the dining experience to a whole new level.
My visit to La Mar allowed me the privilege of experiencing an omakase menu curated by Diego himself. To say it was memorable would be an understatement. Beyond the impeccable dishes – which in themselves were showstoppers – it was Diego's storytelling, passion, and camaraderie that made the evening unforgettable.
Peruvian cuisine is universally delightful, but Diego's touch at La Mar is a testament to culinary artistry combined with heart. It's not often that I label a meal as one of the best in my life, but this experience at La Mar with Diego Oka? It's etched in memory, and rightfully so.
