BasBas, everyone’s favorite restaurant in Helsinki, has quietly grown into a small family of three distinctive places. The newest addition is BasBas Studio, a cozy space with 25 seats and a small counter. The kitchen is run by two Kalles—co-founder Kiukainen from the original bistro, and Tanner, a former Chef of the Year in Finland.
Menus change constantly, and the food has an inspiring balance between comforting and adventurous. The style is hard to define—maybe modern Mediterranean with classic French technique and a subtle hint of Asia isn´t too far off. Compared to the mothership (BasBas), the combinations are a touch more playful. Excellent wine list, great service.
